China's Twitter Clones

In July 2009, the Chinese government blocked many social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. They blamed these websites for causing violent uprising and decieded to abn them. There are many other social networking sites in China that are becomming more and more popular. These websites are starting to closely resemble Twitter and Facebook. These websites are becomming the most blogged websites in all of China.
I think that the government shouldn't be able to control what you do and see on the internet. You pay for it you might as well be able to use it however you choose. If you do something via internet that's illegal and you get caught that's your own fault and you should have to deal with the consequences.

  1. I am not even sure if blocking social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter is legal in the U.S. I don't think that the Chinese government should have been able to block social network sites because no one owns the internet, therfor, the government shouldn't be allowed to control it. In every country, people should be allowed to read, write, and say what they want. People tend to put the blame on to everyone or everything else other than themselves, it is time to take responsibility for ourselves! I don't really understand how social networking sites cause violence, it is the people on the social network sites that cause the violence. I don't think that anyone should be allowed to control the internet. The internet allows us to understand other cultures, people, ideas, etc. The government should not be able to control what we see, what we read, or who we interact with, these are all choices that people should make for themselves.
