Changing Behaviors to save energy

Changing Behaviors to Save Energy

In an article written on March 5, 2010 in NPR, Ira Flatlow looks at other reasons and behaviors that move people to buy green and use Hybrid technology. In his article, he has an open and interesting discussion with Dr. Hunt Allcott of MIT. DR. Allcott gives his viewpoint on green technology, global warming and the effects on people. He sights many examples that do show much of what we do comes from “neighbor comparisons”, not just in terms of energy use, but in other environmental behaviors.
This is a very interesting twist. You would love to believe that man is driven to better ourselves and enable our species to survive and flourish into the future. Are we buying greener cars and doing the right thing for the environment, or are we just trying to save face and look better and more responsible than our neighbor… The green face of envy just took on a new meaning.
