In this New York Times article stated above, said that 5 Republicans voted with the Democrats to approve a $15 billion jobs package in the Senate. It went on to say that this was parting with the stance the Republicans had taken in the past in trying to stop the advance of Mr. Obama's programs.
I think that this is indeed refreshing that they can for once vote for something that can actually benefit the county without worrying who gets the credit. One can argue that the jobs program may be fleeting since the jobs are probably going to come in the way of improving roads or other areas of infrastructure. However, it is at least a change from the Republicans solution of constantly giving the wealthy more money back with no guarantee that they are going to do the intended thing of creating new, lasting jobs for Americans.

I undertand that having political parties helps people understand what your views are on certain key subjects. However, sometimes it seems like we would all benefit more if there were no political parties so that decisions could just be made on the basis of what's best for the country as a whole. Bipartisanship is great, but getting there appears to take way too long to be benefiting anyone.
