Who Should Pay Up? The Battle for hte Gosselin Money

http://www.popeater.com/2010/04/12/jon-gosselin-kate-gosselin-custody/

After the downfall in marraige between Jon & Kate, they both started doing their own things. Currently, Kate Gosselin, the divorced mom of eight is starring on 'Dancing with the Stars', landed a new reality show, AND releasing a new book. She has three well-paying jobs on her plate, three more than ex-husband Jon Gosselin. So Why is Jon the one who has to pay Kat $20,000 a month?

I don't think Jon should have to pay Kate, while shes making all of this money. But, as long as the kids are residing with Kate, Jon has to pay her the money every month. I also don't see how Kate can have full custody of the eight children while earning all her fame. How does she have time to raise the eight children while practicing hours a day for 'Dancing With the Stars', promoting her book, and filming a reality television show? The kids are probably raised by a nanny, when they could be with their father.

Poland Mourns Leaders Killed in Plane Crash

http://www.aolnews.com/world/article/polish-president-lech-kaczynski-was-killed-in-a-plane-crash-in-russia/19434298

Poland's president, his wife, and some of the country's most prominent military died in a plane crash in over Russia this past weekend. A total of 97 people died that were traveling with the president. The residents in Poland are calling this devastation one of the worst disasters since the Second World War. Polish President, Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria were on their way to Russia's Smolensk region to celebrate the anniversary of hte Katyn Massacre. The plane was said to have went down less that 400 yards from an airport runway.

In response to this article, I think that by the President traveling on an old plane, at least 20 years old, wasn't the smartest idea. The President is to be considered one of the most important people in any country. They should be flying on top notch aircrafts, to avoid situations like this. Even though they say that the crash was due to fog also, if the president was flying on a more advanced aircraft, there would be strong enough foglights to be able to bypass this incident.

US Mother Ships Adopted Boy Back to Russia

http://www.aolnews.com/world/article/torry-hansen-case-spotlights-dark-side-of-foreign-ado

In this story reported by AOL news, Torry Hansen adopted a 7 year old buy from Russia, and than shipped him back to Russia with a one-way plane ticket. Torry Hansen has said that the boy had made threats to burn her house down, along with murdering her family. Hansen had described her son as mentally unstable and violent. Although many believe that what Torry Hansen did was incorrect, some believe that it might have been the right thing to do. The boy is now back in Russia and families are stepping up to the plate offering to adopt him and take him under their care.

I believe that Torry Hansen could have seeked help and try to help the boy. In Russia, a lot of orphans were born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and face many problems. Hansen was a nurse, and could have spoken to a doctor, and seeked psycological help. Although I believe that she should have tried to work with him first, I don't blame her at all for sending him back due to the threats he made.

Reviewing the Safety of Antibacterial Soap Ingredient

http://www.aolhealth.com/2010/04/09/fda-reviewing-safety-of-antibacterial-soap-ingredient/?icid=mainhtmlws-main-wdl3link5http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aolhealth.com%2F2010%2F04%2F09%2Ffda-reviewing-safety-of-antibacterial-soap-ingredient%2F

In this article, the United States Food and Drug Administration has warned consumers that an active ingredient found in many antipacterial soaps has proved to alter horomone regulation in animal studies. Other products related to this situation include some toothpastes and health and beauty products. The ingredient that has been called for a ban is triclosan. The ingredient is found in almost everything, from soaps to socks. Even though this is being noted onto the FDA's website, they also say that triclosan is not known to be hazardous to humans.

In my mind, I believe that parents should continue using products, but just be aware of any unusual effects that they notice in their children. Since triclosan is said to be found in toothpastes, beauty products, soaps, and even socks, I dont think there is much we can do besides be aware of the call for the ban of the ingredient. Besides, they say its only causing these horomone effects on animals, not people.

"Toyota Halts Sales of 8 Models in U.S for Pedal Flaw"

In the New York Times article, “Toyota Halts Sales of 8 Models in U.S for Pedal Flaw”, Nick Bunkley reports on the problem with Toyota-brand vehicles that are recalled because of the automatic acceleration. Eight models, including the Toyota Camry and Highlander, have been recalled due to the problem of the acceleration pedal sticking, causing the car to accelerate without the driver making it. The reputation that Toyota has built up for centuries, will now be effected because of this recall. With the pedal flaw, people have lost trust in Toyota. Almost half of the sales of Toyota vehicles in the past two years are a part of the fleet of recalls.

In defense of Toyota, they were not forced to make the decision to recall the vehicles. They recalled them because they want their customers to be as safe as possible. With this recall happening, sales are going to drop immensely due to the halt on production of the fleet. Also, Toyota’s regular customers are going to doubt their trust in Toyota’s safety in their vehicles. People’s lives are at a higher risk because of the defect in the car. Toyota decided to risk the sales and customers in order to have a name in their company as to fix problems immediately, even if they have to stop productions.

In my opinion, I think Toyota did the right thing by not only recalling half of their models, but by stopping the production. I am an owner of a Toyota Scion tC and my vehicle has been recalled for the floor mats getting caught under the pedal. I think that by Toyota taking the blame, and fixing the problem, that their name will only grow better within households. Many people look at it now as Toyota has safety issues, but in the long run, Toyota took a stand and refused to make the product anymore, as opposed to Ford, who’s recall of the Explorer in 2000-2001, continued to manufacture their vehicle.
